Weekend Snippets

What a drizzley, wet weekend we had here!!  We still managed to get outside and play in-between downpours and even went on a bit of a roadtrip.  Otherwise it was pretty quiet here.  Lots of movies and relaxing which was perfect and I even got to my sewing project!!
I hope, despite the rain you had a relaxing weekend and are ready to take on the week.  I'll be back later with the results of my very first sewing attempt...

Vintage Sewing Supplies

As you know, I've got a new hobbie to tackle...sewing.  I've got a lot to learn and a lot of projects I would love to try and am desperately trying to find a good block of time to devote to it.  I know it is coming soon and when it does, I'll be ready!
 While I was re-doing my grandmother's chest of drawers, I came a cross some fantastic vintage sewing supplies...I'm taking it as a sign!

I've been carrying this fabric around for about ten years and using it for various hand-sewing projects.  I am looking forward to using it for something other than small pin cushions or sachets!!

New Creative Outlet

(I'll move the cat before I sew - I promise!)

 I have just been given my first sewing machine!  (Well, it was actually about a month ago but I have yet to give it a go).
I am beyond excited but also a bit nervous because I haven't touched one since home- ec in grade school (oh my!)
I have been scouring the web for beginner projects and helpful tips to get me started.  I have been overwhelmed!  There are so many amazing and informative sites out there, I feel like I could spend the next year just reading before I even thread my machine.  I've decided on this for a couple of reasons: I like cuddly things and easter is coming up.  Now, I know it might be easier for me to start with a pillowcase but I think this little guy is too cute!

I'm off this morning to get some supplies and am hoping to carve out a bit of time this weekend to try my hand at this.

Vintage Finds

Sometimes I'm amazed by the things I come across when I go to my mum's house...things I've obviously grown up with but have looked beyond or just not taken much notice of.  Well, this past weekend I collected some treasures and wanted to share them with you.

I'm looking forward to putting these items to good use.   The quality of the needles are beyond anything I have seen and I'm thinking that the little pins will be fantastic worked into either some jewelry or other craft (perhaps a series of small frames?).  I'm undecided about the forks yet but I'll keep you posted.
